On 06/18/11, the street at E149th and Southern Blvd, in the Bronx was renamed to P.O. Kenneth Mahon Place. P.O. Mahon was murdered in 1974. He was in the anti-crime unit of the 41st Pct. know as "Fort Apache". He was shot and killed as he pursued a suspect in a rape and robbery.
